Hrísey

Hrísey island is often referred to as the pearl of Eyjafjordur bay. The island hosts a rich birdlife and several hiking tracks. You can catch a ride on a tractor wagon and go sightseeing around the island’s village. Sharks are common around North Iceland and Hrísey has a museum about shark fishing, the methods and history. You might be able to taste shark while visiting. Hrísey has restaurants and groceries store, a nice swimming pool and an overall friendly atmosphere. The island is served by a ferry from Árskógssandur village.
